About

The Dog Cottage is a luxury boutique dog hotel specialising in Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Located in Pimpama, on the northern Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, The Dog Cottage was founded in 2021 to provide Gold Coast and Brisbane Cavalier King Charles Spaniels with the ultimate holiday destination.

Founder

The Dog Cottage was founded by rescue dog mum, Megan Bowen. Megan is quite possibly the most tragic Cavalier King Charles Spaniel lover in existence. Her love for the breed began at the age of six, when her family adopted a Blenheim Cavalier named Carlo. It was love at first sight, and she has been obsessed ever since.

Megan has always dreamed of opening a luxury dog hotel specialising in this beautiful breed. Nothing makes her happier than a house full of furry angels.

Megan holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA), a Master of Marketing (MMark), and a Bachelor of Arts (BA).

Why we exist

The Dog Cottage was created as the ultimate holiday destination for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Cavaliers are a truly unique breed — deeply people-focused and happiest when surrounded by constant love, attention, and companionship. They require a very specific lifestyle to thrive, and that is exactly what we provide.

  • Limited intake: We intentionally limited our intake to a small number of Cavaliers ensuring each guest receives the attention, affection, and care they crave.

  • Exquisite cuisine: Our furry guests enjoy premium, breed-appropriate nutrition, dining exclusively on 5 Hounds by Dr Will.

  • A daily enrichment agenda: Each day is thoughtfully planned to keep Cavaliers happy, calm, and mentally stimulated. Activities include treat hunts in our sensory garden, forest walks, private dog park play, and brain-enriching games, balanced with restful naps on plush faux-fur sofas.

  • Daily grooming and pampering: Cavaliers require daily grooming to maintain healthy skin and coats. Every guest enjoys daily brushing, gentle massages and cuddles.

  • Luxury accommodation: At night, Cavaliers sleep in a king-sized bed with 1000 thread count sheets — a fitting touch for a breed originally bred for royalty.

  • Giving back: We are proud financial sponsors and foster carers for Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Rescue Queensland.

Meet our CEO

Meet our Chief Executive Officer - Charlie Frank! Charlie Frank is our five-year-old Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

When he’s not sleeping on the job, our CEO can usually be found conducting quality control by taste-testing treats from his favourite department — the pantry.

Deeply dedicated to his role, Charlie Frank personally participates in every treat hunt and enrichment game to ensure they meet the highest standards for our guests. At the dog park, he also takes it upon himself to test the mud puddles, carefully assessing their consistency to guarantee maximum enjoyment.

A born leader, Charlie Frank is an exceptional delegator. He has little interest in tasks he doesn’t consider fun, so he skillfully assigns those duties to his Personal Assistant (AKA his human Mum).

Charlie Frank is, quite possibly, the most adorable Chief Executive Officer to have ever lived. Charlie Frank runs The Dog Cottage with charm, enthusiasm, and an unwavering commitment to treats.
