What if my dog doesn’t eat 5 Hounds by Dr Will at home?

That is absolutely fine. It is your choice whether you want to bring your dogs usual food with you, or if you would like them to consume our food.

  • If your dog usually eats a real whole food diet (raw or gently cooked), please bring 2 days of their usual food and we will transition them onto our food. We slowly transition them to avoid digestive upset.

  • If your dog usually eats kibble but you would like them to consume our food, then please bring 5 days of your dog’s usual food, and we will then slowly introduce our food to them. As per the above, we do this to avoid an upset digestive system.

    Top Benefits:

Anti-inflammatory, heart, muscles, digestion, hypoallergenic, non GMO, chemical free, pesticide free.

    The Science:

The goat meat and organ meats are top sources of high-quality protein, essential for maintaining strong muscles. Goat heart is particularly rich in taurine, an amino acid crucial for heart health.

The turmeric and omega-3 rich oils (ie the flaxseed oil) offer both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant support. Turmeric is a powerful natural anti-inflammatory that can help manage chronic inflammation, which is beneficial for dogs with conditions like arthritis or allergies. The balanced omega-6 to omega-3 ratio of 1.17:1 further supports anti-inflammatory effects and promotes healthy skin and a shiny coat. Additionally, these ingredients provide antioxidant support, protecting cells from oxidative stress

Finally, ingredients such as the butternut pumpkin, beetroot and spinach are rich in dietary fibre, which promotes healthy digestion and regular bowel movements in dogs. Butternut and beetroot help in maintaining a healthy gut and support liver function, ensuring that dogs receive the full nutritional benefits of their diet.

    Top Benefits:

Muscles, weight, digestion, immunity, skin and coat, anti-inflammatory, hypoallergenic, non GMO, chemical free, pesticide free.

    The Science:

Kangaroo meat is exceptionally lean and high in protein, making it an excellent option for dogs that need to build and maintain muscle mass while managing their weight. Equally, the low fat content makes it ideal for dogs prone to obesity or those needing a low-fat diet, whilst kangaroo liver provides essential vitamins and minerals, enhancing overall vitality.

In addition, the inclusion of fibre-rich ingredients such as quinoa, spinach, green beans, butternut pumpkin and blueberries support healthy digestion and help maintain a healthy gut microbiome. Quinoa, being a gluten-free grain, provides a complete protein source and essential amino acids, while spinach and blueberries are packed with antioxidants and vitamins that bolster the immune system and protect against cellular damage.

Finally, the addition of walnut oil, flaxseed oil and chia seeds, alongside the other recipe ingredients, provides the ideal ratio of omega fatty acids to make this meal excellent for maintaining skin health and a glossy coat, while also reducing inflammation throughout the body. Omega-3s are particularly beneficial for dogs with allergies or inflammatory conditions, as they help to mitigate symptoms and promote overall skin and joint health.

    The Science:

The 5 Hounds by Dr Will fish bowl is particularly beneficial for supporting skin and coat health, strengthening bones and muscles, and boosting the immune and digestive systems.

To be precise, the Australian salmon, sardines and walnut oil featured in this recipe are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are crucial for maintaining healthy skin and a shiny coat. The balanced omega-6 to omega-3 ratio of 1.23:1 also helps reduce inflammation, benefiting dogs with allergies, arthritis, or other inflammatory conditions. Omega-3s also support cognitive function and cardiovascular health.

In addition, the inclusion of calcium carbonate, along with the phosphorus from the fish, helps to support strong bones and teeth in dogs. The choline supplement, meanwhile, is important for maintaining healthy joints, particularly in older dogs, and it also supports liver function.

Finally, ingredients such as the sweet potato and carrots are high in dietary fibre, which promotes healthy digestion and regular bowel movements for our dogs. They are also rich in antioxidants, supporting the immune system. Button mushrooms, in particular, have immune-boosting properties and provide additional vitamins and minerals. Whilst turmeric, with its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, further supports immune health and helps in managing inflammation, while black pepper enhances the absorption of curcumin in turmeric.
